Local tea producers are grappling with numerous challenges, compelling them to gradually forsake their fields and cultural heritage.

Factors such as the prevalence of mass-produced bottled tea prioritizing affordability over quality, the recent global pandemic, a shortage of labor, and shifts in local consumer behavior all contribute to the decline of this age-old culture.

Leading the way: Honda Mohei


After 3 years of immersive training in Yame, Mohei returns in 2010 as the Fifth Generation Tea Master, with a fervent desire to blend traditional wisdom with modern innovation, crafting exceptional tea that embodies the essence of Japanese tea culture.

Chairman of the Association of the 100 best tea of Shizuoka, Mohei is today the founder and ambassador of Mohei Tea; his life project is to protect the Japanese Tea Culture and lead his peers toward new horizons.
